March 2026 - Harbert Management Corporation Sells Five-Property Seniors Housing Portfolio
Birmingham, AL., March 25, 2026 - Harbert Management Corporation (“HMC” or the ‘firm”), an alternative asset manager with approximately $8.1 billion in regulatory assets under management, today announced the sale of a portfolio of five seniors housing properties across four states.
HMC acquired or developed these senior living properties between 2017 and 2023. The assets have demonstrated strong operational performance and feature a wide range of amenities for their residents, including fitness centers, salons, restaurant-style dining, swimming pools, and more.
"We are proud to have built, developed and exited a portfolio of high-quality seniors housing properties that exemplifies our focus on geographic diversification across markets and high operational performance,” said Brian Landrum, Senior Managing Director and Co-Fund Manager for HMC’s Seniors Housing strategy. “The growing demand for seniors housing positions us for continued growth in the sector and allows us to evaluate strategic sales that drive value for our investors.”
HMC’s Seniors Housing strategy integrates real estate, hospitality, and healthcare to offer diversified investment opportunities. The firm focuses on value-add acquisitions or developments of independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities. Since inception, the strategy has executed $1.8 billion of transactions across 50 seniors housing properties and 5,800 units.
“The strong investor interest in these assets highlights the ongoing tailwinds to the seniors housing sector,” added Trent Johnson, Senior Managing Director and Co-Fund Manager for HMC’s Seniors Housing strategy. “The aging population in the United States requires high-quality living facilities with luxury amenities. We have high conviction in our proprietary submarket expertise to continue identifying quality assets across diverse geographies and communities nationwide.”
