Raymond J. Harbert
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Raymond J. Harbert has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Management Corporation, an alternative asset investment management firm, since it was organized in 1993.

Mr. Harbert began his career with Harbert International, Inc., a subsidiary of Harbert Corporation, in 1982 where he held various positions. Subsequently, Mr. Harbert served as Vice President of Business Development and then as President of Harbert Properties Corporation, Harbert Corporation’s real estate subsidiary. In December 1988, he was elected Vice President of Harbert Corporation, where he had overall responsibility for the firm’s investment portfolio. In July 1990, he was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Corporation, which brought the remainder of the firm under his management.

Mr. Harbert serves on the Board of Trustees of Auburn University, where he is the past President Pro Tem. Mr. Harbert also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Robert Meyer Foundation. He serves on the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Executive Committee of Children’s Hospital of Alabama. In addition, Mr. Harbert serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for Birmingham Business Alliance. He also serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Board of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a member of Chief Executives Organization. Mr. Harbert is a past member of the Board of Trustees for the Alabama Trust Fund, Alabama Business Hall of Fame Nominating Committee, Leadership Alabama, Young Presidents’ Organization, and a former Alabama State Chairman for YPO.

In 2006, Mr. Harbert was awarded the regional Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Financial Services. Mr. Harbert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Auburn University. He and his wife, Kathryn Dunn Harbert, have three children.

J. Travis Pritchett
President & Chief Operating Officer

Travis Pritchett is President and Chief Operating Officer. Travis joined HMC in 2005 as an Associate in the U.S. Real Estate group. He opened and ran HMC’s Dallas office in 2012 with investment responsibilities for the Central U.S. In 2015, he launched HMC’s first sector specific real estate strategy, Seniors Housing. In 2016, he was promoted to Global Head of Real Estate and in 2019 to Global Head of Real Assets with all HMC Real Assets strategies reporting to him including Harbert Infrastructure.  In 2020, he was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer with management responsibilities for all of HMC’s private market investment strategies including Growth Capital and Credit Solutions. Mr. Pritchett sits on all of HMC’s private market investment committees, is an HMC shareholder and member of HMC’s Board of Directors.  He also serves as Chairman of the Board for Harbert Realty Services.

Prior to joining HMC, Mr. Pritchett completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School as a Kenan-Flagler Merit Fellow. He also holds a Master of Environmental Management (M.E.M.) with a concentration in Coastal Management from Duke University. He also received a BS in Biology from Davidson College where he was a four-year letter winner on the tennis team.  Mr. Pritchett currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the McWane Science Center.

Raymond J. Harbert Jr.
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Harbert joined HMC in 2010 as an Associate in Private Equity rising to Senior Associate in 2013. In August 2014, Mr. Harbert transitioned into a management role within Fund Administration while still overseeing the remaining private equity investments. He was elected to the HMC Board of Directors in 2017. Prior to joining HMC, he was an Associate in the Transaction Services Strategy Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers, focusing on buy side commercial due diligence. He holds a Masters of Business Administration and a BS in Finance, both from Wake Forest University where he was a letter winner on the track team.

Mr. Harbert currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Central Alabama. He previously served on the Boards of CES Holding Company, Inc., Precision Alloys Corporation, STX Healthcare Management Services, Inc., Dent-A-Med, Inc., Onward Behavioral Health, Inc., Travis Body and Trailer, Inc., the HERO Foundation (Harbert Employees Reaching Out) and the Athletic Advisory Council of the Deacon Club for Wake Forest University.

John W. McCullough
Executive Vice President & General Counsel

John W. McCullough joined HMC in 2006 as a Vice President and Associate General Counsel, was appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel effective March 9, 2009 and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors in 2014. He was named Executive Vice President and General Counsel and appointed to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in 2016. Before joining HMC, Mr. McCullough was a partner in the law firm of Balch & Bingham LLP and Associate General Counsel of a publicly traded client of that firm. Mr. McCullough is active in the community, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and a past member of the Board of Trustees of McWane Science Center, a science museum and early learning center in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. McCullough received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington and Lee University and received a law degree from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.

John F. Bryant
Executive Vice President & Senior Managing Director, Absolute Return Strategies

John F. Bryant (Jack) serves as Executive Vice President and Senior Managing Director at Harbert Management Corporation. Mr. Bryant joined HMC in 2014 in portfolio management and since 2019 has overseen HMC’s Absolute Return strategies. Mr. Bryant is an HMC shareholder and serves on the Board of Directors. From 2016-2020, Mr. Bryant served on the Board of Directors of Perceptron Inc. (NASDAQ: PRCP). Before joining HMC, Mr. Bryant was a Vice President at BlackRock. Mr. Bryant has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, from Sewanee: The University of the South. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Raven Society.

Mr. Bryant is involved in his local community, serving on the Board of Directors of the TumTum Tree Foundation, America’s longest running wine auction supporting children’s charities, and serving as a Member of the Vestry at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Birmingham. Mr. Bryant also serves on the Investment Committee of Sewanee: The University of the South’s Endowment.

Mr. Bryant is married with three children and lives in Birmingham, Alabama.

Lee W. Purcell
Global Head of Capital Markets

Lee Purcell serves as Global Head of Capital Markets. Mr. Purcell joined HMC in 2022.  Lee leads a global team tasked with providing solutions for HMC’s existing investors as well as developing new limited partner relationships.  Mr. Purcell has 25 years of experience in investment management as well as a successful 15-year history as a marketing professional. Prior to joining HMC, He served as the Global Head of Investor Relations with Meyer Bergman (MARK), a London based real estate private equity group and prior to that he was a Managing Director and Partner at The Carlyle Group.  He also held senior positions at Greenhill and Credit Suisse. Lee is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received a Master of Business Administration from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

John M. Harbert II
Senior Vice President of Strategy

Mr. Harbert is the Senior Vice President of Strategy, working on firm-wide strategic initiatives including data management, technology strategy, ESG implementation, business development and capital formation. He previously served as a Director of Investments for the U.S. Real Estate team in the Birmingham office where he focused on the areas of acquisitions, financings, and dispositions for the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. regions. Prior to joining the U.S. Real Estate team, Mr. Harbert served as a Director with the HMC Marketing team, raising capital for all HMC strategies from a variety of investors ranging from high-net-worth individuals to large institutional clients. He served in that role in the New York, London and Birmingham offices.

Mr. Harbert holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Economics from the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Alternative Investments from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. He additionally serves on the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee of Harbert Realty Services, an HMC subsidiary, and the Advisory Board for Auburn University’s Masters of Real Estate Development Program.

Mr. Harbert is involved in his community and serves on the Board of Governors for Birmingham Legion FC, the Board of Directors at Red Mountain Theatre Company, the Board of Directors at the McWane Science Center, and is an active member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club.
