Lee W. Purcell
Global Head of Capital Markets

Lee Purcell serves as Global Head of Capital Markets. Mr. Purcell joined HMC in 2022.  Lee leads a global team tasked with providing solutions for HMC’s existing investors as well as developing new limited partner relationships.  Mr. Purcell has 25 years of experience in investment management as well as a successful 15-year history as a marketing professional. Prior to joining HMC, He served as the Global Head of Investor Relations with Meyer Bergman (MARK), a London based real estate private equity group and prior to that he was a Managing Director and Partner at The Carlyle Group.  He also held senior positions at Greenhill and Credit Suisse. Lee is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received a Master of Business Administration from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. 


Melissa M. Babb
Senior Managing Director

Based in HMC’s Atlanta office, Melissa Babb is a Senior Managing Director of sales and marketing in North America. Ms. Babb joined HMC in 2008, having served as a Managing Director of JPMorgan Private Bank covering high net worth clients in the Southeast. Before moving to Atlanta in 2004, Ms. Babb headed the Morgan Plus Investment Group of JPMorgan Private Bank in New York, the team that performs manager due diligence and reporting. In the 1990s, Ms. Babb was a capital markets specialist on the New York trading floor of JPMorgan Securities Inc. She began her Wall Street career in 1984 as a fixed income and derivatives specialist in New York and London with Merrill Lynch.

Ms. Babb holds a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University Stern School of Business. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodruff Arts Center and the Atlanta Botanical Garden and a member of Leadership Atlanta 2010. She holds FINRA Series 7, 8, 24 and 63 licenses, and was designated one of “The Nation’s Top 100 Wealth Advisors” by Worth Magazine.


Michael J. Larsen
Senior Managing Director

Michael Larsen is responsible for sales and marketing from our office in London. Prior to joining HMC in November 2004 he spent more than 24 years in the financial services industry in a variety of senior sales and management roles, with more than 15 years in Europe, including two years as Executive Director and Head of Sales and Marketing at a leading Swiss alternatives manager. Prior to that Michael was a Business Manager for Citigroup Asset Management, with responsibility for a number of markets. Michael’s career with Citigroup and Citicorp spanned 20 years, with positions in New York, Bahrain, London, Zurich, and Geneva. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Boston University. Michael is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority and holds his FINRA/NASD Series 7 and 63 licenses.


Charles D. Miller
Senior Managing Director

Mr. Miller was one of the original shareholders of HMC when the firm was founded in 1994. He was promoted to Executive Vice President & CFO in 2002 serving through 2011 when he became Executive Vice President & Global Head of Distribution. In April 2022, Mr. Miller will move into a new advisory role as Senior Managing Director and will continue to service some of the firm’s long standing high net worth relationships.

Mr. Miller previously worked with Harbert Corporation, which he joined in 1985, and played a key role in that firm’s transformation from an operating conglomerate. During his career, he has served in various treasury and financial management roles, including Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Corporate Acquisitions. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and has completed the Wharton Executive Program at the University of Pennsylvania on Financial Management.

Jennifer M. Cahill
Managing Director

Prior to joining, HMC, Jennifer was a Managing Director at Investcorp, a $22 billion global asset management firm comprised of real estate, private equity, hedge fund, and credit businesses. At Investcorp, she most recently marketed Shoals Capital (financial sector-focused hedge fund), an Italian private equity vehicle and Nut Tree, a credit opportunity hedge fund, helping raise capital from launch to over $1.2 billion. Prior to joining Investcorp, Jen was the Chief Marketing Officer at Atlantic Investment Management,  a soft-activist hedge fund, which peaked at $2.3 billion, where she was responsible for all aspects of fundraising/marketing for Atlantic’s long/short and long-only activist funds (US, Japan, Asia ex-Japan and Europe). She joined Atlantic after rising to the ranks of Partner and Director of Marketing at Protégé Partners, a premiere hedge fund seeder and allocator, where she built a nine-person sales and investment relations team and led the group to grow assets in Protégé Partners, Protégé Opportunistic, Protégé Direct, Protégé Tactical and seeded vehicles from $1.2 billion to well-over $5 billion in peak capital. Jen also spent time at Pequot Capital Management, Goldman Sachs and General Electric.

Jen is a graduate of General Electric’s Technical Leadership Program. She has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s’ Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.


Preston L. Ulrich, CFA

Based in HMC’s Dallas office, Preston Ulrich is a Director responsible for leading sales and marketing efforts across the Southwest and Southern California.  Prior to joining the HMC Dallas office, Mr. Ulrich was responsible for sales and marketing across the Southeast and Midwest out of HMC’s Atlanta office, where he joined in 2013.  Prior to that, Mr. Ulrich was an Investment Advisor with Waddell & Reed Financial Services where he was responsible for covering high net worth clients. Mr. Ulrich received an M.S. and B.S.B.A. in Finance from Auburn University’s Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. He is a CFA Charterholder and holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses.
