Associate, Harbert Credit Solutions
Harbert Credit Solutions (“HCS”) is a private capital investment strategy of Harbert Management Corporation (“HMC”). HCS is currently investing out of is $300 million fourth fund, Harbert Credit Solutions Fund IV, L.P. and its parallel fund, HCSF IV Parallel Fund (“HCSF IV” or the “Fund”). Since the inception of their first fund in 2000, HCS funds have successfully invested approximately $920 million in 130 companies. HCS remains committed to the lower end of the middle market and is actively seeking investments across all industries with the following characteristics:
- $5 to $15 million per investment
- Revenues of $10 to $100 million and EBITDA of $2 to $10 million
- Funds used for organic growth, acquisitions, recapitalizations, and management buyouts
The Fund’s investments are typically a mix of both debt and equity securities. Each investment is treated as a true partnership with the management team and its financial sponsors and has the flexibility to invest up and down the balance sheet to fit the needs of its portfolio companies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity or credit investing, or transaction services
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft suite required
Responsibilities
The Associate will be based in Nashville, TN, and will report directly to senior professionals. The Associate will participate in all aspects of executing the investment strategy and activities in support of the Fund, including:
- Evaluating potential investment and co-investment opportunities by building pricing models and conducting industry research, market sizing, and on-site company due diligence. Structuring subordinated debt and minority equity investments to align all relevant stakeholders
- Facilitating and supervising financial, insurance, legal third-party due diligence
- Managing legal documentation process by reviewing credit and investment agreements
- Authoring investment memoranda and underwriting analysis for investment committee presentation
- Participating in board-level discussions with portfolio company management teams and investors
- Working with portfolio companies on acquisition financing, refinances, and follow-on investments
- Creating fund-level valuation and performance reports for senior partners, advisory boards, and investment committees
