Raymond J. Harbert
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Raymond J. Harbert has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Management Corporation, an alternative asset investment management firm, since it was organized in 1993.
Mr. Harbert began his career with Harbert International, Inc., a subsidiary of Harbert Corporation, in 1982 where he held various positions. Subsequently, Mr. Harbert served as Vice President of Business Development and then as President of Harbert Properties Corporation, Harbert Corporation’s real estate subsidiary. In December 1988, he was elected Vice President of Harbert Corporation, where he had overall responsibility for the firm’s investment portfolio. In July 1990, he was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Harbert Corporation, which brought the remainder of the firm under his management.
Mr. Harbert serves on the Board of Trustees of Auburn University, where he is the past President Pro Tem. Mr. Harbert also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Robert Meyer Foundation. He serves on the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Executive Committee of Children’s Hospital of Alabama. In addition, Mr. Harbert serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for Birmingham Business Alliance. He also serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Board of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a member of Chief Executives Organization. Mr. Harbert is a past member of the Board of Trustees for the Alabama Trust Fund, Alabama Business Hall of Fame Nominating Committee, Leadership Alabama, Young Presidents’ Organization, and a former Alabama State Chairman for YPO.
In 2006, Mr. Harbert was awarded the regional Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Financial Services. Mr. Harbert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Auburn University. He and his wife, Kathryn Dunn Harbert, have three children.
Charles D. Miller
Executive Vice President & Global Head of Distribution
Mr. Miller joined Harbert Management Corporation (HMC) in 1994 and became Executive Vice President & CFO in 2002 serving through 2011 when he became Executive Vice President & Global Head of Distribution. He also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Miller previously worked with Harbert Corporation, which he joined in 1985, and played a key role in that firm’s transformation from an operating conglomerate. During his career, he has served in various treasury and financial management roles, including Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Corporate Acquisitions. His current responsibilities at HMC include the management of all fund raising and investor relations activities. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and has completed the Wharton Executive Program at the University of Pennsylvania on Financial Management.
Sonja J. Keeton
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Keeton joined Harbert Corporation in 1990 and became its Director of Corporate Taxation and Assistant Controller in 1992. She continued to serve HMC in that role at the time of its inception in 1994. In 2004, Ms. Keeton became the Controller of HMC and in 2011 became its Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. She was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, elected to the HMC Board of Directors and appointed to the Executive Committee in 2015. Ms. Keeton is a Certified Public Accountant who practiced with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand) prior to joining Harbert Corporation in 1990. There she practiced in internal controls with a focus on healthcare, banking and construction industries. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama in 1986.
John W. McCullough
Executive Vice President & General Counsel
John W. McCullough joined HMC in 2006 as a Vice President and Associate General Counsel, was appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel effective March 9, 2009 and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors in 2014. He was named Executive Vice President and General Counsel and appointed to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in 2015. Before joining HMC, Mr. McCullough was a partner in the law firm of Balch & Bingham LLP and Associate General Counsel of a publicly traded client of that firm. Mr. McCullough is active in the community, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, the United Way of Central Alabama and a member of the Board of Trustees of McWane Science Center, a science museum and early learning center in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. McCullough received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington and Lee University and received a law degree from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.
J. Travis Pritchett
Vice President & Senior Managing Director, Global Real Estate Strategies
Mr. Pritchett joined the US Real Estate team at HMC in 2005 as an Associate rising to Director of Investments in 2008 and to Managing Director in 2012. From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Pritchett was responsible for the US Real Estate investment activity in the Central Region. Mr. Pritchett has acquired over 1.8 million square feet of office space, 4,200 apartment units, 400,000 square feet of retail or mixed-use real estate, and 1.5 million square feet of self-storage space. Over the last 10 years, Mr. Pritchett was responsible for over $1 bn in transactions.
In 2012, Mr. Pritchett opened HMC’s Dallas office for the US Real Estate platform. In 2015, he was instrumental in launching HMC’s first sector specific real estate fund, Seniors Housing. In 2016, Mr. Pritchett was promoted to Vice President and Senior Managing Director with management responsibility for all of HMC’s real estate investment platforms including US Real Estate, European Real Estate, and Seniors Housing. He sits on the investment committee for all three real estate platforms and is also Chairman of the Board of Harbert Realty Services.
Prior to joining HMC in 2005, Mr. Pritchett completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School as a Kenan-Flagler Merit Fellow. He also holds a Master of Environmental Management (M.E.M.) with a concentration in Coastal Management from Duke University. Prior to graduate school, Mr. Pritchett worked as a Portfolio Analyst for Trusco Capital Management. Prior to Trusco, he received a BS in Biology from Davidson College where he was a four year letter winner on the tennis team. Mr. Pritchett is an active member of the board for the St. Michaels Episcopal School in Dallas, TX.
