Heather N. Leonard

Senior Managing Director

Ms. Leonard is the Senior Managing Director of the Harbert Emerging Markets investment team. Prior to joining HMC in 2005, Ms. Leonard was a Managing Director at Northshore Asset Management, LLC from August 2004 to February 2005. Previously, she was employed at Phoenix Investment Partners, Ltd. in Hartford from September 1997 to July 2004. While at Phoenix, she served as a Director of Public Fixed Income, Emerging Markets, for Phoenix Investment Counsel, Inc. and as a Mutual Fund Tax Manager and Assistant Treasurer, Tax Analyst and Financial Reporting Analyst for the Phoenix Funds. In January 1999, Ms. Leonard began contributing to the day to day management of the Phoenix Emerging Markets Bond Fund with Peter Lannigan through her work on the Russia allocation. Prior to joining Phoenix, Ms. Leonard worked as a Real Estate Accountant for J&S Development and Management Corp. from December 1994 to September 1997. Ms. Leonard graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Greg P. Ebeyer

Director of Investments

Mr. Ebeyer joined the Harbert Emerging Markets investment team in January 2008 as a Trader. Prior to joining HMC, he worked at Angelo, Gordon & Co. as a Long/Short Trader focused on real estate securities. Mr. Ebeyer began his career at Bear Stearns. Mr. Ebeyer graduated from the State University of Buffalo in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Mr. Ebeyer has his Series 7, 63 and 55 licenses.

Robin Y. Yang

Director of Investments

Ms. Yang is a Director of Investments for the Harbert Emerging Markets investment team. Prior to joining HMC in July 2008, Ms. Yang was a Senior Analyst, from January 2007 to July 2008, at Jayhawk Capital Management, LLC, an investment manager which mostly focuses on equity investments in China. Prior to Jayhawk, she conducted proprietary research for institutional investors at Fiery Phoenix Consulting, LLC from November 2005 to December 2006. Previously, she was with Stephens Inc. from April 1998 through October 2005 where she worked as a Senior Analyst following U.S. companies, primarily in the software industry. Prior to Stephens Inc., Ms. Yang was a Financial Analyst with American Airlines and worked in international sales at Yantai MinMetal Import & Export Corp. in the People’s Republic of China. Ms. Yang graduated from Yantai University in the People’s Republic of China with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language & Literature and earned a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Arkansas. Ms. Yang is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Carlos de Leon

Director of Investments

Mr. de Leon is a Director of Investments for the Harbert Emerging Markets investment team in London. For the ten years prior to joining HMC in 2009, he worked for Deutsche Bank in London, New York and Latin America, most recently as senior investment analyst in proprietary trading in European special situations based in London. He worked on the sell-side, buy-side and briefly in global equity strategy.  Mr. de Leon spent a large part of his career as sell-side research analyst as either generalist or sector specialist, working in both emerging and developed markets. While at Deutsche Banc Alex Brown in New York, he became a highly rated analyst in the energy sector – according to Institutional Investor, Reuters, Latin Finance – and had a lead role in one of the largest investment banking transactions in emerging markets at the time. Before joining Deutsche Bank he worked at Baring Securities. Mr. de Leon has a Master of Business Administration from Schiller University in Heidelberg, Germany, and took short executive education courses at INSEAD and Columbia University.
