Philip A. Falcone

Senior Managing Director

Mr. Falcone is the Senior Managing Director of the Harbinger Capital Partners® Funds. He has more than 20 years experience in leveraged finance and leveraged companies. Prior to joining the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team, he served as head of High Yield trading for Barclay's Capital. From 1998 to 2000, he managed all aspects of Barclay's trading operations, including trading distressed and special situations, managing risk exposure of the desk, and overseeing the desk trading and analytical team. Mr. Falcone held a similar position with Gleacher Natwest, Inc. from 1997 to 1998. Prior to joining Gleacher, Mr. Falcone was a Senior High Yield trader at First Union Capital Markets in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before joining First Union in 1995, he structured the leveraged buyout of AAB Manufacturing Corporation, a Newark, NJ based consumer products manufacturing company. He completed this transaction in 1990 and remained President and Chief Operating Officer of the company until 1995. Mr. Falcone began his career in 1985, trading high yield and distressed securities at Kidder, Peabody & Co. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University in 1984.

Lawrence M. Clark, Jr.

Managing Director & Director of Investments

Mr. Clark joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in October 2002 as a Vice President & Director of Investments. Mr. Clark was subsequently promoted to Managing Director & Director of Investments. Previously, Mr. Clark was a Distressed Debt and Special Situations Research Analyst at Satellite Asset Management, L.P., where he covered financially stressed and distressed industrial, cyclical and energy companies. He has actively participated in several financial restructurings in official and unofficial capacities as both a secured and an unsecured creditor. Prior to moving to the buy side, he was a Vice President in the Distressed Debt and High Yield Research Department at Lazard Freres & Co., LLC and an Associate in Credit Suisse First Boston's High Yield Research Group. He started his investing career as a Junior Analyst in the Corporate Bond Research Department of Salomon Brothers. Prior to commencing his career as an investment analyst, he was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company of America. Mr. Clark holds a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University's Stern School of Business and graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He has completed Levels I and II of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation program.

Howard P. Kagan

Managing Director & Director of Investments

Mr. Kagan is Managing Director & Director of Investments of the Harbinger Capital Partners® Funds. Prior to joining the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in November 2004, Mr. Kagan was an independent analyst providing valuation, financial advisory services and transaction origination services to various hedge funds, institutional investors, family offices and private equity firms. During the 1990s he was Managing Director at McManus & Miles, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in the utility/power industry, where he completed a variety of bank and institutional financings, project financings, securitizations, restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining McManus & Miles, Mr. Kagan spent two years as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. specializing in financial institutions. Prior to Goldman, he was with the First Boston Corporation. He graduated from Cornell University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and received a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University's Stern School of Business in 1987.

Ian W. Estus

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Estus joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in August of 2002 as an Assistant Trader. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President – Trading and Chief Operating Officer in February 2006 and September 2007, respectively. Previously, he was a Trading Assistant in the High Yield Investments Group with Smith Barney Asset Management in New York, a division under Citigroup Asset Management. Mr. Estus also served as a Fund Accountant/Section Manager of the Mutual Fund Accounting Group of Citibank Asset Management. He graduated from the University of Buffalo in New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and is a FINRA General Securities Representative. Mr. Estus has his Series 7 & Series 66 licenses.

Kathleen K. Murphy

Senior Vice President & Product Specialist

Ms. Murphy joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in April of 2005 as a Portfolio Strategist. Ms. Murphy was subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President & Product Specialist. Previously, she was a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where she served as a High Yield Strategist. Prior to joining Goldman, Ms. Murphy was an Associate at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) in the High Yield Research Group, where she performed high yield portfolio analysis, oversaw the CSFB High Yield Indices and evaluated cable and media issuers. She spent two years in the Equity Capital Markets Division of CSFB marketing global new issues to U.S. based institutional investors. Ms. Murphy earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Fordham University Graduate School of Business in 2000 and was selected as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994.

Jeffrey T. Kirshner, Esq.

Senior Vice President - Investment Counsel

Mr. Kirshner joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in July of 2006 as Vice President & Investment Counsel. He previously worked in the New York office of Bingham McCutchen, LLP, where he was a Partner in the Financial Restructuring Group. His primary focus at Bingham was creditors’ rights, where he represented clients holding positions throughout the capital structure. Prior to joining Bingham, he worked at Kaye Scholer Fierman Hays & Handler, LLP, where he was an associate in the Bankruptcy Group, focusing his practice on the representation of debtors in Chapter 11. Mr. Kirshner graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University in 1993.

Robert J. Lambert

Senior Vice President - Trading

Mr. Lambert joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in September of 2007 as Senior Vice President - Trading. Prior to joining the investment team, he was Managing Director & Co-Head of High Yield Leveraged Finance at RBC Capital Markets in New York and London. Before joining RBC Capital, Mr. Lambert was Managing Director & Head of the Global High Yield Trading Group at BNP Paribas Securities Corp. From 1996 to 2002 he worked for Societe Generale as Director & Head of the European High Yield Trading Group. Prior to Societe Generale, Mr. Lambert was a Senior Vice President & High Yield Senior Trader for Natwest Markets. Mr. Lambert also worked at Bankers Trust Company as a Financial Analyst for the Merchant Banking Group. He started his career in the Post Graduate Training Program as an Assistant Trader & Intern for Allen & Company, Inc. Mr. Lambert graduated from Williams College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.

Mark D. Danchak

Senior Vice President & Product Specialist

Mr. Danchak joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in December of 2007 as Senior Vice President & Product Specialist. From 2002 to 2007 he was a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of distressed and high yield sales at Imperial Capital, LLC and Libertas Partners, LLC, respectively. From 2000 to 2002 he worked as a Senior Vice President at 24/7 Real Media, where he led the operational restructuring of the firm. Prior to the restructuring assignment, Mr. Danchak worked at Barclays Capital in distressed and high yield sales. Before coming to Wall Street he consulted on various technology initiatives and was part of the original team that started All Points Software in 1994. Mr. Danchak has a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the William E. Simon School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Rochester.

Clark D. Baker

Vice President & Director of Investments

Mr. Baker joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in January 2008 as a Vice President & Director of Investments. Before joining the team, Mr. Baker was an exclusive consultant for the Harbinger Capital Partners® Funds, focusing primarily on financial structures and mortgage-related products. Prior to working for HMC, Mr. Baker was a Portfolio Manager in the London office of Elliott Management, a multi-billion dollar event driven hedge fund founded in 1977. Prior to joining Elliott, he worked primarily as a High Yield research analyst at Barclay’s Capital covering various industrial, technology, and financial sectors. Before joining Barclays, Mr. Baker worked at NationsBanc Capital Markets (now Bank of America), where he served as both a High Grade and a High Yield/Distressed analyst covering the paper and packaging, defense/aerospace, and financial services sectors. He began his career in 1988 with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation working with failed and failing banks and savings and loans during the Texas banking and S&L crisis. Mr. Baker holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Fort Hays State University.

David M. Maura

Vice President & Director of Investments

Mr. Maura joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in November of 2006 as a Vice President & Director of Investments. Prior to joining the investment team, Mr. Maura was an exclusive consultant for the Harbinger Capital Partners® Funds, providing fundamental/ valuation analysis as well as idea generation within the consumer oriented area. Previously, Mr. Maura was a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst at First Albany Capital, where he focused on distressed debt and special situations primarily in the consumer products and retail sectors. Prior to First Albany, Mr. Maura was a Director and Senior High Yield Research Analyst in Global High Yield Research at Merrill Lynch & Co. Mr. Maura was a Vice President and Senior Analyst in the High Yield Group at Wachovia Securities where he covered various consumer product, service and retail companies. Mr. Maura began his career at ZPR Investment Management as a Financial Analyst. He graduated from Stetson University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was designated a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1995.

Eli K. Benson

Vice President & Director of Investments

Mr. Benson joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in August of 2005. Before joining the investment team, he worked from 2000 until 2005 at Citigroup as a Vice President/Research Analyst in the Global Special Situations Group in both the London and Tokyo offices. During his tenure at Citigroup, he was instrumental in building Citigroup's European and Japanese distressed investment portfolio. Prior to joining Citigroup, from 1996 until 1998, Mr. Benson worked as an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department at PaineWebber Inc. in New York. Mr. Benson graduated summa cum laude from Union College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and also completed the 12 month intensive Japanese language program at the Inter-University Center administered by Stanford University in 1999.

Joseph W. Cleverdon

Vice President & Director of Investments

Mr. Cleverdon joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in March of 2006. Before joining the investment team, he was a Vice President in the Financial Restructuring Group of Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin, where he worked for seven years in the firm’s New York, London and Frankfurt offices. He also was a founding officer of Houlihan Lokey’s Frankfurt office. While at Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Cleverdon advised companies, creditors and other investors involved in insolvency proceedings, out-of-court restructuring and recapitalization transactions, financings, and divestitures and acquisitions. Prior to joining Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin, Mr. Cleverdon was an Associate in the Technology Division with D.E. Shaw & Co., a hedge fund based in New York. Mr. Cleverdon attended Cornell University.

Adam R. Zirkin

Vice President & Director of Investments

Mr. Zirkin joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in August 2007 as Vice President & Director of Investments. Before joining Harbinger, he was Head of Research at Libertas Partners, a boutique broker-dealer focused on distressed and special situations debt and equity. He began his career at RBC Capital Markets in 2001, where he worked as a high yield analyst and salesperson. He has focused his attention on several sectors including aviation, oil services, logistics and telecommunications. He has also worked on several capital markets transactions spanning a wide array of industries. Mr. Zirkin graduated cum laude from Brandeis University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry and a minor in philosophy. He has taught classes in public speaking and argument theory, and while at Brandeis, was one of the most successful intercollegiate debaters in North America.

Kenneth J. Turano

Vice President - Trading

Mr. Turano joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in April 2005 as a Trading Assistant, and was promoted to Vice President – Trading in September 2007. He has his Series 7 & Series 63 licenses, and is a level II CFA candidate. Prior to joining Harbinger, he received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Harvard University.

Corrine J. Glass, Esq.

Vice President - Assistant Investment Counsel

Ms. Glass joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in March of 2008. She previously worked in the Los Angeles and New York offices of Kaye Scholer LLP, where she was a Senior Associate in the corporate restructuring group. While at Kaye Scholer she represented a wide variety of creditor and trustee entities. Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, Ms. Glass worked in the Los Angeles office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where she was an Associate in the bankruptcy group, focusing her practice on the representation of debtors in Chapter 11. Ms. Glass graduated from Harvard Law School in 2000 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997.

Joseph M. Anto

Senior Analyst & Director of Investments 

Mr. Anto joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in June of 2006. Before joining the investment team, he was an Associate with ABS Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on recapitalizations and expansion financings for middle market companies. At ABS, Mr. Anto sourced and evaluated potential transactions as well as advised existing portfolio companies on a range of strategic and financial issues. Prior to ABS, Mr. Anto was an Analyst in the Technology Investment Banking Group of Wachovia Securities, where he worked on a variety of mergers and acquisitions and private placement transactions. Mr. Anto received his Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia Business School and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University, where he concentrated in Finance and Information Technology.

Senior Analyst & Director of Investments 

Mr. Drew joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in December of 2006. Before joining the investment team, he was an Investment Banking Analyst with Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. Mr. Drew worked within the Media and Telecommunications Group on a variety of mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity transactions. Mr. Drew received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University, where he concentrated in Finance.

Ritwik D. Chatterjee

Senior Analyst & Director of Investments 

Mr. Chatterjee joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in March of 2007. Before joining the investment team, he worked for six years in the Restructuring Advisory groups of CIBC World Markets Corporation and Piper Jaffray & Co. As an investment banker, Mr. Chatterjee advised companies, creditors, and equity sponsors in a variety of matters including in and out-of-court restructuring and recapitalization transactions, exchange offers, public and private financings, and acquisitions/divestitures. Prior to this, Mr. Chatterjee was a Marketing Manager at the Time Inc. division of Time Warner, Inc. focusing on strategic media and retail partnerships. Mr. Chatterjee began his career in the High Yield Group of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. Mr. Chatterjee received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University where he concentrated in International Relations.

Achur A. Iskounen

Senior Analyst & Director of Investments 

Mr. Iskounen joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in April of 2007. Before joining the investment team, he was an Associate at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. in Institutional Equity Sales, where he specialized in the Japanese market and served US-based hedge funds. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Iskounen was a Research Analyst at Federated Investors, Inc. in New York focusing on emerging market equities. Mr. Iskounen received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Mr. Gass joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in January 2008 as Senior Analyst & Director of Investments. Before joining HMC, he was a Vice President with GE Energy Financial Services, where he focused on equity investments in pipelines and power generation. Prior to GE, Mr. Gass was an Associate at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, managing distressed energy investments. Mr. Gass began his career in the energy industry as an analyst at the Sumitomo Bank. Mr. Gass received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from New York University in 2000 and is a CFA Charterholder.

Matthew H. Bynum

Portfolio Analyst

Mr. Bynum joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in January 2008 as a Portfolio Analyst. Before joining HMC, he was a Senior Associate with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services, where he performed valuation analysis for various Fortune 500 companies. Prior to Deloitte, Mr. Bynum was a Financial Analyst at Chemtura Corporation. Mr. Bynum received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Ms. Ross joined the Harbinger Capital Partners® investment team in July of 2007. Before joining the investment team, she was an Analyst at Citigroup Global Markets, Inc., where she worked in High Yield Sales and European Equity Sales.
